Judy Margaret Gust

Judy Margaret Gust, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Loeffler) Jacobsen, was born February 21, 1943, in Carroll County near Coon Rapids, Iowa and died October 8, 2018, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 75 years, 7 months, and 17 days.
Judy was baptized and confirmed at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. She attended the Annunciation parochial school in Coon Rapids until the family moved northeast of Bayard, Iowa where she graduated from the Bayard High School with the Class of 1961.
On June 2, 1962, she was untied in marriage to Robert Duane Gust at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids, Iowa. They were blessed with five children Julieanne, Robert M., Maridee, Janelle, and Jeanette. Judy helped Robert operate their farm where they grew row crops and raised livestock. She had a vegetable garden, but loved working in her flower garden. In 1975 Judy decided to further her education and attended the Iowa Western Community College branch in Atlantic, Iowa where she received her Associate Degree and then became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Judy was employed as a nurse at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa and the Exira Care Center in Exira, Iowa until she retired in 2005.
Judy was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon where she taught second grade C.C.D classes and was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Women.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her twin brothers Mark and Phil Jacobsen; her mother-in-law Winifred Gust; her sister-in-law Charlene Jacobsen; and her brother-in-law Bob Barsby.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years Robert D, Gust of Audubon, Iowa; her children Julieanne Knutsen and her fiancé David Andersen, Robert M. Gust, Maridee and husband Shawn Bohlmann all of Audubon, Iowa, Janelle and husband Scott Goodrich of South Jordan, Utah, and Jeanette and husband Brian Cuppy of Ankeny, Iowa; her grandchildren Robert and wife Jessica Cooley of Boone, Iowa, Michael Cooley and friend Joan of Carroll, Iowa, Tanner Knutsen and Taylor Knutsen, Morgan Gust and Aaron Gust, Travis Strasser and fiancée Mandi, Trent and wife Ashley Strasser, McKenzie Bohlmann all of Audubon, Iowa, Matthew Goodrich of South Jordan, Utah, Zachary Goodrich of Grimes, Iowa, and Rebecca, Jacob, and Benjamin Cuppy all of Ankeny, Iowa; five great grandchildren; her sisters and brother Kay and husband Tom Vaux of Bayard, Iowa, Joy Barsby of Manning, Iowa, Linda Whitecotton of Texas and Floyd Jacobsen of Oklahoma; her brother-in-law Dale and wife Sheryl Gust of Templeton, Iowa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father David Nkrumah, on Thursday morning, October 11, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa. There will be a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. followed by a visitation until the time of the service at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Audubon, Iowa. The honorary casket bearers will be Travis Strasser, Trenton Strasser, Robert Cooley, Michael Cooley, Tanner Knutsen, Matthew Goodrich, Taylor Knutsen, Zachary Goodrich, McKenzie Bohlmann, Morgan Gust, Rebecca Cuppy, Aaron Gust, Jacob Cuppy, and Ben Cuppy.
