Michael Joseph Veneck

Michael Joseph Veneck, the son of Robert and Jean (Strasser) Veneck, was born May 1, 1953, at the St. Catherine’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska and died May 5, 2022, at the Cass County Memorial Hospital in Atlantic, Iowa at the age of 69 years and 4 days.

Michael was baptized and confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended the Assumption Catholic School in Omaha and then graduated from Bryan High School with the Class of 1971. Michael then attended UNO in Omaha receiving a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was employed with Commercial Optical in Omaha for several years.

On September 29, 1979, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Mosites at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Omaha. They were blessed with 4 children: Lisa, Sara, Patrick, and Kevin. He then was employed at Old Home Bread in Omaha for 16 years before working for the University of Nebraska Medical Center as a building engineer until he retired in 2020.

Michael was a former volunteer fire fighter for the Bellevue Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking and built their first home. In his spare time you could often find him working on cars, especially his 1967 Corvette or helping his brother, Eddie, repair his stock cars. Michael also enjoyed fishing and camping and cherished the time he spent with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lorraine; and his sisters-in-law, Cindy Bell and Angie Mosites.

Michael is survived by his wife Kathy Veneck of Brayton, Iowa; his children: Lisa Mosites of Omaha, Nebraska, Sara and husband Larry Harrison of Bellevue, Nebraska, Patrick and wife Dana Veneck of Papillion, Nebraska, and Kevin and wife Tiffany Veneck of Bellevue; his grandchildren: Dennis Clark, Vincent Coschka, Zachary Thompson, Aubrie Harrison, Jacob Veneck, Evan Veneck, Braydon Veneck, Tyler Botos, Jr., Elih Weiss, Raeghan Veneck, Gage Veneck, and Devyn Veneck; his great granddaughter Camila Clark; his brothers and sister: Linda and husband Charlie Coldanghise of Omaha, Robert and wife Sue Veneck of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ed and wife Linda Veneck of Bellevue; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Michelle Mosites of Omaha, Michael and wife Nancy Mosites of Omaha, Patrick and wife Kate Mosites of Minneapolis, Minnesota, James Mosites of Omaha, Jean Mosites of Omaha, Carol and husband Scott McQueen of Houston, Texas, Helen and husband Brian Adamson of Papillion, Brian and wife Lori Mosites of Moorpark, California, and Leroy Bell of Omaha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Per Michael’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date. The Kessler Funeral Home in Exira is in charge of the arrangements.
