Walter Alan Kilworth

Walter Alan Kilworth, the son of Alonzo Hollis and Sadie Mae Tando Kilworth was born February 9, 1936, at his aunt and uncle’s, Jeff and Lizzy Roberts’ home in Brayton, Iowa and died November 26, 2011, at the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 17 days. Walter was baptized May 19, 1960, at the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa. He attended rural school “Exira #6” southeast Exira and then graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1954. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa for one year before moving back to Exira to help operate the family farm. On October 13, 1958, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served stateside. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1964. On October 5, 1958 he was united in marriage to Nadine Marie Andersen at the Exira Christian Church. Four children: Thomas, Cindy, Lonn and Timothy were born to this union. He continued to farm and raised cattle, hogs and row crops. In August of 1991 they moved into Exira where Walter continued to help on the farm after he retired. Walter was a member of the Exira Christian Church in Exira where he served as a deacon and was an Elder Emeritus. He also served two years as the chairman of the board. He was an avid reader, enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and fishing, but most of all he enjoyed playing with and teasing his grandchildren. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Hugh Hollis Kilworth; his father-in-law Leonard Andersen and mother-in-law Neitha Andersen Littlefield; and his step-father-in-law Lonnie Littlefield. Survivors include his wife Nadine Kilworth of Exira, Iowa; his children: Thomas and wife Silvie Kilworth of Thorton, Colorado; Cindy and husband Eric Henry of Exira, Lonn and wife Denise Kilworth also of Exira; Timothy and wife Angie Kilworth of Waverly, Iowa; his grandchildren Kaeden Kilworth of Thorton, Colorado: Dustin Jensen and Josh Jensen of Peoria, Illinois, Kelsey Henry of Exira; Michael Kilworth, Matthew Kilworth, and Christopher Kilworth, all of Exira; Lauren Kilworth, Grace Kilworth, Samuel Kilworth, and Emily Kilworth all of Waverly, Iowa; his brother Darrell and wife Viola Kilworth of Exira; his sister Doris Anne and husband John Byrne of Eugene, Oregon; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Nancy and husband LaVon Christensen of Kirkman, Iowa; Leroy and wife Cathy Littlefield of Strawberry Pointe, Iowa; Larry and wife Judy Littlefield of Glidden, Iowa; Cheryl and husband Jerry Christensen of Neola, Iowa; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Exira Cemetery in Exira, Iowa.

Service:
Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Glen Meyer and Pastor Alan Finestead on Thursday, December 1, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at the Exira Christian Church in Exira, Iowa.

Visitation:
The family will meet with friends Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Exira, Iowa.
